Paper satellites above the town Drifting through electric blue Tiny signals in the dark Carrying echoes I once knew The rooftops shimmer after rain Like silver rivers in the night I watch the city breathing slow Beneath a thousand scattered lights The names I carried for so long Are fading softly from my skin Like photographs left in the sun Growing lighter in the wind Every window leaves a glow Every glow becomes a sign What was mine is drifting farther With the passing lights Paper satellites Made from letters never sent Drifting through the edges of my life Long after they were meant Paper satellites Turning slowly through the blue Carrying old ghosts of who I was I finally outgrew The river mirrors distant signs And breaks them into shards of gold Some dreams were never meant to stay Some stories only need to be told I hear the silence differently It doesn't sound the way it did There's something peaceful in the space Where all the noise once lived Every window leaves a glow Every glow becomes a sign What was mine is drifting farther With the passing lights Paper satellites Made from letters never sent Drifting through the edges of my life Long after they were meant Paper satellites Turning slowly through the blue Carrying old ghosts of who I was I finally outgrew Above the sleeping avenues Beyond the reach of yesterday I see the signals drifting onward Without asking them to stay Maybe every ending leaves A light we cannot hold Fading through the atmosphere Like stories never told Paper satellites Made from letters never sent Drifting through the edges of my life Long after they were meant Paper satellites Turning slowly through the blue Carrying old ghosts of who I was I finally outgrew Paper satellites Paper satellites Into the blue
