SELDEM - Shadow Ghost

I've been running from the mirror But the mirror doesn't lie I built myself from borrowed parts From what they wanted, from their hearts I wore the masks they made for me A ghost inside a effigy The voice inside kept getting faint I traded truth for their complaints Now I'm standing in the wreckage of who I tried to be And I'm tired of asking permission To exist To be more than their vision Of what I should be I don't wanna be the shadow of someone else's light! I don't wanna become what they define! I'll tear down every altar they built in my mind! I'm taking back what's mine! I'm taking back what's mine! Every word they said became my skin I wore their doubt from deep within But skin can shed, and walls can break There's something real beneath the fake I'm learning how to trust the sound Of my own feet on unknown ground It's terrifying but it's mine Finally mine And I'm done with asking permission To exist I am more than their vision I am what I choose to be I don't wanna be the shadow of someone else's light! I don't wanna become what they define! I'll tear down every altar they built in my mind! I'm taking back what's mine! I'm taking back what's mine! What if I fall? What if I break? What if the person I become Is a stranger's face? But what if I fly? What if I rise? What if the person I become Stares back with my own eyes? I won't be your reflection! I won't be your design! I am my own salvation! I am finally alive! I don't wanna be the shadow of someone else's light! I don't wanna become what they define! I'll tear down every altar they built in my mind! I'm taking back what's mine! I'm taking back my life! I'm learning who I am One breath at a time I'm becoming
