Gregorian - The Sound of Silence (New Version 2020)

[00:04.06] Hello, darkness, my old friend [00:08.65] I've come to talk with you again [00:13.61] Because a vision softly creeping [00:19.10] Left its seeds while I was sleeping [00:24.13] And the vision that was planted in my brain [00:31.49] Still remains [00:35.36] Within the sound of silence [00:41.62] In restless dreams I walked alone [00:46.82] Narrow streets of cobblestone [00:52.02] 'Neath the halo of a streetlamp [00:56.80] I turned my collar to the cold and damp [01:02.07] When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light [01:09.26] That split the night [01:13.24] And touched the sound of silence [01:19.31] And in the naked light I saw [01:24.35] Ten thousand people, maybe more [01:29.61] People talking without speaking [01:34.79] People hearing without listening [01:39.76] People writing songs that voices never share [01:48.58] No one dared [01:52.34] Disturb the sound of silence [01:58.88] Fools, said I, you do not know [02:03.82] Silence like a cancer grows [02:09.05] Hear my words that I might teach you [02:13.87] Take my arms that I might reach you [02:19.11] But my words like silent raindrops fell [02:29.55] And echoed in the wells of silence [02:38.25] And the people bowed and prayed [02:43.24] To the neon god they made [02:48.49] And the sign flashed out its warning [02:53.44] In the words that it was forming [02:58.50] And the sign said, the words of the prophets [03:02.23] Are written on the subway walls [03:07.14] And tenement halls [03:10.18] And whispered in the sounds of silence [03:19.06]
