Nazareth - Strange Days

Try to stay away from the small talk Try to keep an eye on your friends Though you were instrumental I can't be sentimental I was standing round the corner But I knew that this would happen again My heroes are leaving me And now we do what we're told My heroes are leaving me End of the day Somebody's got to pay Strange days When you try to give a hand But the dog just wants to bite He doesn't want to understand Strange days Some can take it like a man Strange days Strange days Go ahead and act like a martyr But you can never handle the sting Keep 'em misdirected Your story is accepted I was going to try to help you But you had to throw your hat in the ring My heroes are leaving me Don't want to do what I'm told My heroes are leaving Cold manipulation A nasty defamation Strange days Who's the man behind the mask? With the poison in his pocket While he's eyeing up your glass Strange days Another gutless sycophant My heroes have gone Strange days Better swallow up your pride If you want to pay the rent Then you better let it slide Strange days The truth will always be denied Strange days Strange days Power Junky Monkey He's going to have a flunky Best to get him off your back right now Strange days It doesn't matter about the facts When you're outside looking in And they're papering the cracks Strange days Trying to cover up the past My heroes have gone Strange days 'Cause he has to be a star Demands and ultimatums Lowering the bar Strange days We all know it's gone too far Strange days Strange days
