ALEX MAK 1980 - I Miss You, My Friend

Here I sit alone, tea by the fire And I recall a time that takes me higher Used to chill with you, no stress, no end You were more than just my closest friend We would float down the river's bend Far from the village, far from the crowd We'd talk for hours, dreams out loud Now you're gone, a better world has found you Friend!! It hurts so bad! All this longing drives me mad! 'Cause we can't be together anymore Friend!! I miss you so! Every day this grief will grow! 'Cause we can't be together like before Now I take my son out to the woods We sit by the fire in all kinds of moods I tell him 'bout our childhood days The river's curve, the secret place Friend!! It hurts so bad! All this longing drives me mad! 'Cause we can't be together anymore Friend!! I miss you so! Every day this grief will grow! 'Cause we can't be together like before Rest in peace, my friend, just know This world still has no full report But what if — somewhere down the road We'll meet again, some other port We'll build a fire, the same old spot Even if you're far, even if you're not Friend!! It hurts so bad! All this longing drives me mad! 'Cause we can't be together anymore Friend!! I miss you so! Every day this grief will grow! 'Cause we can't be together like before
