KAIA RAY, almost real., Damon Price - Wildflower

They told me how to walk the line Smile on cue and never speak my mind Wear the colors they wanted to see Be the girl they imagined me to be But the wind kept calling out my name And every season changed me just the same No matter how they tried to tame my roots I always grew where the wild things grew I don’t belong behind a frame I was never made to stay the same I’m not a rose in a crystal vase I’m a wildflower Growing through the cracks they couldn’t change I’m a wildflower You can cut the stems, rewrite the plan But I bloom the way I am I’m a wildflower I still carry names I never say Old conversations that refuse to fade Some doors closed before I reached the light Some dreams only visit me at night And every time they tell me who to be Something deeper wakes inside of me Like a river finding its own way home I was never meant to grow alone I don’t belong behind a frame I was never made to stay the same I’m not a rose in a crystal vase I’m a wildflower Growing through the cracks they couldn’t change I’m a wildflower You can cut the stems, rewrite the plan But I bloom the way I am I’m a wildflower Every mark they left behind Drew another line of mine Every season, every scar Made me exactly who I am I’m not a rose in a crystal vase I’m a wildflower Growing through the cracks they couldn’t change I’m a wildflower You can cut the stems, rewrite the plan But I bloom the way I am I’m a wildflower Wildflower Wildflower Still growing Wildflower
