Walter Trout, New Radicals - Collingswood

Well mumma never heard what the neighbours were thinking She didn't have time for that stuff We were living with a man who spent all Day drinking; he was big he was mean and rough Mumma didn't 'fess to raising four up into a man When I looked at the violence in our Home I told mumma that I didn't understand And she said It's alright She said it's alright It's alright Someday it's gonna be alright Ooh each now wondered who would make It to tomorrow with what was going on The axes and the shotguns the whiskey and the Would we make it to the dawn And I'd like in my bed all night shaking I was fearing for my skin I put the furniture against the bedroom door to Keep the big man from getting in and my brother told me It's alright That's what he said It's alright It's alright Someday it's gonna be alright Alright Well it was so long ago but it still affects me Sometimes I wake up in a sweat And I'd lay there remembering a small Boy as scared and lost as I could get And out of the darkness comes a vision and I wonder what it is I see Then I realise it's the spirit of my Mumma and she puts her arms around me And she said It's alright My mumma said it's alright It's alright she said to me It's alright that's what she says It's alright It's alright Someday it's gonna be alright Alright Gonna be alright
